Job Description:

Go Resource are currently looking to recruit a General Manager for a business located in Medway Towns within a Supply Chain Operation in Kent. Following a period of rapid growth in the operation and within their Value-Added Warehousing division, our client is now in the market for aGeneral Manager.

If successful you will be working for a Top 100 global forwarder, with 150 offices in 80 countries, who provide access to 5,000 logistics professionals worldwide. 

 

The role key aspects will be to reduce costs, improve product availability and increase responsiveness throughout our client’s global supply chains.

 

Job Purpose

Direct and oversee staff members to make sure operations align with the vision of the company and our customer SLA. Manage the customer service aspect of the organisation and step in to resolve issues promptly to prevent/limit service failure. Promote the goals of the organisation daily with each employee, while optimising and improving the bottom line.

Job Duties

·Manage the day-to-day activities of a single user warehouse site, with additional responsibilities for current and future multi-user warehouses for specific customer(s)

·Ensure smooth running of the facility(s) operations including financial management, performance management and Health, Safety & Welfare

·Provide strong leadership support to the warehouse team and manage staff through performance and training

·Ensure labour turnover, customer service levels and profitability are measured through continuous improvement culture

·Manage and lead Health and Safety, AEO and other compliance

·Maintain effective communications at all levels including senior management to provide a ‘window’ into the areas of responsibility/customers

 

Key Skills:

  • Extensive senior and multi-site operational experience in the retail logistics sector.
  • Team management: Manage the day-to-day warehousing operations across multiple locations to ensure efficient and effective utilization of an operational team of 200 plus staff.
  • Performance and development of staff to align and motivate large teams to deliver and exceed customer expectations.
  • Client Management and Communication: Ability to develop, manage, and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to help support planning and execution of strategic goals
  • Planning and Problem solving: Demonstrate a strong track record of problem solving and solid analytical skill capability to look at and find solutions for a variety of operational challenges;

Person Specification:

The role requires an individual who is not only flexible, but also able to manage and lead others at various locations. The ability to make things happen and drive several operations at once, both from hands on perspective and from a remote location is a must. The ideal candidate will need excellent communication skills, as the role requires extensive customer contact at board level.

The role will require some UK travel and flexible working hours to support demanding customer deadlines.
